Thank you so much for volunteering your time to run a workshop at Girls Rock Dallas. This is going to be an amazing time for the girls, and it is with your help that we can really make a difference in their lives. The goals of each workshop should reflect our mission and to help further the camper’s development of life skills and self-esteem, as well as encouraging creativity, self-expression, and awareness. Below are some questions that will help us at GRD make your workshop run as smoothly as possible.
Each Workshop Presenter and anyone involved in your workshop will need to submit a background check form. Once your workshop has been confirmed, we will provide you with the form to fill out and return to us.
All workshops will need to submit a syllabus that includes a breakdown of activities for both age groups (if applicable) and post-workshop discussion questions that can be used as a continued conversation for parents and campers.
Please Note: Depending on the nature/subject of your workshop, we may need additional information, as well as a presentation of your workshop to a group of GRD panelists.
We have listed a variety of workshops that have been presented in the past, but are also seeking individuals to propose a workshop of their own creation.
There are three different types of workshops available.
- Afternoon Workshops – These are the basic workshops that all campers attend, usually in the afternoon. You will present your hour-long workshop to groups of 25-35 campers twice on the day it is offered. The younger camper group workshop may be shortened to 30-45 minutes depending on the content.
- Riot Girls! Program – For new campers and ages 8-11. This is a one-day morning workshop that is approximately an hour long (Tuesday through Friday).
- Morning Electives – For returning campers ages 11-17. The campers will have the choice to get in-depth and work the entire week (Tuesday through Friday for one hour) on one topic of their choosing.
