Patty was our vocal coach at last year’s camp! She currently is the lead vocalist for Madwak from Dallas Texas.
Patty started singing in church since she was a child with her oldest brother and grandmother playing the piano. Growing up, her mother had an all-girl gospel group called the “Sunshine Girls” which was the main influence for her to start singing.
She currently holds a college degree in the applied arts for acting and she LOVES the theater, which has helped her performances on stage. Patty loves any female performers especially Susan Kay “Suzi” Quatro, The Beatles, TOOL and System of a Down.
One of Patty’s most memorable moments from last year’s camp was interacting with the girls in vocal instruction class. Also, she enjoyed getting to personally know every camper and the differences in their vocal style.
When asked what her favorite part of being a part of Girls Rock Dallas, Patty stated, “The compassion of the volunteers, the Girls Rock Camp Alliance- being a part of a worldwide organization that are filled with SO many good people empowering to help these girls grow a stronger future. I am blessed and THANKFUL to be a part of Girls Rock Dallas. I have always been a big promoter of “girl power”. Girls Rock Dallas helps me grow as well.”
When Patty isn’t wailing on stage with her performances she enjoys throwing parties and watching the Dallas Stars!
Some advice Patty would give to those that want to pursue music would be “Do NOT let anyone tell you that you “CAN’T” do whatever it is you want to do. FOCUS, PRACTICE, FOCUS, PRACTICE, FOCUS, PRACTICE, FOCUS, PRACTICE, FOCUS, PRACTICE, FOCUS, PRACTICE.
