Instrument Instruction: Instruction is offered in guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals. Campers focus on one instrument to study for the weekend. Due to the need to finalize gear in advance, campers cannot change their primary instrument of study during the camp session. You may bring your own instrument, however Girls Rock Dallas is not responsible for its safety.
Band Practice: Campers form bands with their peers on the first day of camp, and work together to collaboratively write an original song. Each band works with a female mentor (their “band manager”) who provides guidance, encouragement and technical support throughout the songwriting process.
Workshops: Campers attend a different workshop each day. Possible topics include songwriting, effects pedal demo, band merch (including screen-printing t-shirts), or recording basics. Let us know what workshops you are interested in attending.
Lunchtime Performances: Each day at lunch, volunteers or a local band will perform for the group, and talk about their experience as musicians.
Fun Activities: Jam sessions, karaoke, open mics, and optional evening outings bring out our playful energy and motivate us throughout the weekend. We let loose, hang out, get to know each other and have an amazing time!
Showcase: On Sunday evening, each band performs its original song at a live venue, open to friends, family and the general public.
