Girls Rock Dallas has been made possible by the hard work of many dedicated volunteers since its very beginning. These dedicated individuals work year-round to make camp a fun and engaging experience. If you have the energy, drive, and enthusiasm to devote to GRD, please consider getting involved with one of our exciting teams or join our Core Team. We need people with a wide range of skills for a variety of different tasks; we’re sure you’ll find something that suits your interests and abilities. While experience isn’t a requirement, previous knowledge is definitely an asset. We’re looking for individuals who are strongly self-motivated and task-oriented who can make a commitment to setting goals and seeing them through. Don’t let those titles scare you, these positions are flexible on duties and assignments depending on the individual’s skills. We are currently meeting bi-weekly in Dallas.
Outreach Director – Design, implement, and coordinate Community Outreach plan each fiscal year for the overall organization. Coordinate and organize outreach events, tablings, and other special outreach events. Identify and build relationships with schools, community organizations, businesses, musicians’ organizations etc. in order to recruit camp volunteers and attendees, increase community awareness and build community partnerships. Work with local organizations to include lower income and at-risk communities to participate in program.
Food Coordinator – Contact with local restaurants to obtain lunches, snacks and beverages for the full week of camp for volunteers and free lunch campers. Create and organize restaurant participation schedule. Follow-up with restaurants on delivery and service.
Media Coordinator – Contacts and works with local press. Administers cost-effective marketing program by building and maintaining positive relationships with various media outlets, vendors and volunteers. Develops media sponsorships/partnerships. Liaison with media, monitors media coverage, assembles media kits, writing and designing newsletters and social media content, oversee the organization’s branding through logo use and print materials.
Fundraising Coordinator – Research and filter companies. Contact companies about potential partnership. Create and manage sponsor tier program chart. Coordinate fundraising events.
Camper Recruitment Team:
Create flyers, brochures, etc. to advertise GRC and LRC.
Contact schools, media outlets, etc. to promote camps
Hang flyers around town
Brainstorm other recruitment ideas
Research and write grant proposals
Contact companies for corporate sponsorship
Maintain a list of contacted foundations and companies
Create budgets for grant proposals
Food Donations Team:
Work closely with the Food Coordinator
Contact restaurants for donations for Ladies Rock Camp and Girls Rock Camp
Maintain list of contacts
Keep track of donations
Works closely with Gear Coordinator
Solicit gear donations from individuals and companies
Track what gear we have and what we need
Pick up and figure out storage for gear
Create waiver for loaned instruments
Girls Rock Dallas (GRD) is looking to build a group of volunteers who are willing and able to be called upon throughout the year to help with everything from helping write out thank you cards, flyer for events, running merch tables at GRD events, and more!
