Board Descriptions and Application

Girls Rock Dallas youth come from a wide range of economic experiences, ethnic identities, gender identities, and neighborhoods, and approximately half self-identify as youth of color. We strive to create a leadership base that reflects our youth, and strongly encourage people of color, people who are gender non-binary and/or trans, and any folks who come from oppressed  experiences or who hold multiple marginalized identities to apply.  We encourage anyone interested in joining our board to be passionate about our mission and have the desire to learn and develop leadership skills.

NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED (training is provided for all positions). Interest in music, feminism, social justice, and cultural issues a big plus.

We meet monthly during the January through July (must attend 4 out of 7 meetings). These meetings last approximately 2 hours. All hours/meetings are not tracked. Flexible schedule.

  • Monthly hourly requirement minimum of 5 hours. This may fluctuate depending on your role/position within the organization. Some positions will take more time to complete.
  • Annual Meeting held in December is mandatory.
  • You must be at camp (not the whole week, can be setup/tear down, etc).

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Volunteer Coordinator (2 Positions total, 1 available) – These positions are responsible for developing and managing Girls Rock Dallas’ Volunteer Program. The duties may be divided in any way as long as all duties are handled. Organizes, coordinates and manages the recruitment of volunteers. Performs volunteer outreach and recruitment through the community. Works with social, civic and local organizations to develop partnerships, where appropriate, to develop and/or utilize volunteers. Develops a concise volunteer application process including, application, screening, interviewing and training.  Maintains volunteer records, database and statistics.  Develops and implements training programs for all volunteers. Recommends and develops ongoing volunteer utilization.  Develops and implements a formal and information volunteer recognition program, including a volunteer appreciation party. Provides ongoing communication, support and guidance for volunteers throughout the application process and all GRD activities.

Financial Director – This position is responsible for managing all accounting and banking functions for the organization, generates and tracks budgets both for internal purposes and outside funders. (Accountant and/or experience required)

Event Coordinator – Works with leadership to assist with planning, coordinating and implementing events designed to raise funds for and to promote community awareness of Girls Rock Dallas programs and services. Responsible for meeting an annual revenue target by working with an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects to increase event sponsorship.

Grant Writer – Research grant-making organizations and analyze them to identify potential funding sources. Compile, write, and edit all grant applications. Develop individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making organization’s preferences. Keep in contact with grant-making organizations during their review of a submitted grant application in order to be able to supply additional supportive material. Work with Executive Director/board to gather information necessary to report to funders on current grant programs. Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting. Work with staff to provide development input for written institutional materials.

Digital Content Manager – Serve as Webmaster, adding and maintaining written and audio-visual material as needed. Generate and revise Web pages as needed to keep content fresh. Create and modify appearance and setting site. Lay out content on Web pages. Manage online giving component of Web site. Examine and analyze site traffic. Fix links that are broken or don’t appear properly. Assist with other digital platforms and data as needed.
